SIT IN
LET YOUR EMOTIONS FLOW
Multi-dimensional Drowning

Flooring is a flat and two-dimensional surface. It creates mainly two-dimensional space and three-dimensional sometimes. We explored the potential of Kentwood flooring in space by turning flooring panels into more prominent, constructed characters, by layering these surfaces and then converting and transforming the idea that “flooring is flat surface” into a multi-dimensional experience that allows the audience to relax and let their emotions flow freely inside of the space.

Sketches

We put Kentwood flooring together into larger pieces, cut them into repetitive, organic shapes, and then layer them into one connected piece as a unit. Seven to ten units were placed in the space, some on the wall and some on the floor. We also added warmth to space through soft, tactile material such as various yarns. The warmness came from fringe panels made out of yarns that echo the shape of units symbolizing the flowing emotions in the space.
